Dr. M.C. Baker is the resident Veterinarian at the family-owned Alpha Equine Breeding Center in Granbury, Texas as well as an on-staff veterinarian at Reata Equine Hospital in Weatherford, Texas devoting time to lameness, surgery and reproduction.

After graduating from Colorado State University, College of Veterinary Medicine in 1966, Dr. M.C. Baker was the Instructor of Large Animal Medicine at the Univ. of Minnesota where he established Alpha Equine Clinic in Maple Plain, MN in 1969 and went on to develop Minnesota Equine Associates with five other Veterinarians in 1972.

Coming to Weatherford, Texas in 1977, Dr. Baker established Alpha Equine Hospital in 1978. It became the first "All-Equine" group practice and hospital in Parker County. It was the first to offer ultrasound, large capacity radiography, in-house chemistry, hematology and bacteriology labs. It was also the first hospital in the area to offer successful colic surgery and the first in Parker County to offer embryo transfer.

Alpha Equine Breeding Center was developed as a separate entity from the hospital in 1994 and moved to it's present location in 1997 where a variety of services are offered on the 300 acre ranch: mare management, foaling, stallion management, shipped semen, on-ranch breeding, received-semen breeding, semen freezing and shipping, year-round mare care, sale-fitting, etc. under a knowledgeable and professional staff overseen by Dr. M.C. Baker.

Dr. M.C. Baker sold the Alpha Equine Hospital in 2004 when it became Reata Equine Hospital, he continued to practice veterinary medicine at the facility until April of 2015 at which time he opened a full veterinary equine clinic at the Alpha Equine Breeding Center location where the clinic has continued to grow in all areas of equine medicine, minor surgery, lameness and reproduction.

Dr. M.C. Baker is a member of AVMA, 50-year member of AAEP, member of TVMA, member of Society of Therogeneology, member of AQHA and NCHA. His expertise and association with these well-known associations has made him a recognized and respected professional.
